How can my company sign up for the Commuter Choice Maryland Commuter Benefits Program?
- Call MTA at 410-767-8755 to learn how the program works
- Employer conducts an employee survey to assess interest in starting a Commuter Choice Maryland program at the worksite
- Employees sign up through HR and order monthly passes
- Employer submits a Consignment Agreement (for monthly pass program) to the MTA (moved this down from the top)
- For employees who purchase their pass through a pre-tax salary deduction, money is deducted from the first and/or second paycheck of each month
- Passes are delivered to the workplace without prepayment during the third week of each month by MTA
- Employer distributes passes/vouchers to participating employees during the last week of the month
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
- Employer who contributes to employees’ monthly commuting costs receives tax deductions and tax credits
- Employer pays for passes sold by the 20th of the next month
- MTA provides free transit timetables and ongoing assistance
- Employees ride transit for less than full fare
