Carpooling/Vanpooling

Carpooling involves two or more people who live near each other, work near each other and have similar hours who agree to share a ride in a private car, station wagon or SUV on a continuous basis. Just two people ridesharing in a carpool cuts driving expenses in half.

Vanpooling involves two or more people who share a ride in a van made for transporting eight to 15 passengers. Vanpools are ideal for longer commutes.  Passengers meet at a pre-arranged time at a Park & Ride lot or other common gathering point to rendezvous with the vanpool.  Vanpools are normally driven by a designated operator. The operator's responsibilities include picking up passengers at the Park & Ride lot in the morning, driving passengers to drop-off points at or near their work, and picking them up after work and returning them to the Park & Ride lot.  Vehicle operating costs are shared by vanpool members, or sometimes paid by their employers.

To join a carpool or vanpool, fill out a Ridematch Application below.
